The name's Cookie. 20 years old, terrible at looking after myself, and aiming to kick ass and lose about 30 kilos over however long it takes.

Overall goals at the moment are to be able to run 5km by February 2014, be comfortable in a bikini by December 2014, and to be completely free of sugar and junk food cravings by Christmas. I practice medieval swordfighting twice a week, and have a gym membership but barely use it. I'm also lazy, so end up eating out a lot rather than the foods I should.

Any more detailed suggestions on how I could do this?

Another newbie here, who has tackled the 5k:

For your run 5k goal - Step 1 is getting out there for walks. Depending on where you're starting, you may need to work up to 30 minutes of walking, or, you may be there already. Once you're there, look up Couch to 5k, or another interval based program. You start of at something like run 1 minute, walk 90 seconds. If that's too much to start, do a few weeks of running for 30s-1 minute every few minutes during a walk. I personally have used the Podrunner Intervals podcast to time it for me, which has electronic dance music to pump you through it :)
