Student Loan Consolidation

I was running into a lot of my problems with my student loans from both medical and culinary school where I was losing over half my paycheck to them. Then one of my Sgt s told me about a program that fixed everything. I consolidated all my loans under a single income based loan that is making my life so much better. Something to add...if all of your student loans are federal and with one servicer, there is little benefit to consolidating.  However, if you're having trouble making payments, you should look into some of the different plans.  If you're in public service, some of your loans can be forgiven.

Good idea, but one thing they don't make clear is that it counts as a new loan against your lifetime loan limit. So, if you're thinking of going back to school, you need to be careful. Not saying don't do it, but know what it means.
