The guilds are used so people with similar fitness interests can identify themselves and seek out others who share the same interest. Along those same lines we separate the challenges into different guilds based on their primary fitness goals. See here for more info on the guilds including descriptions of them. To join a guild you just pick! There is no initiation required.
