I need to change!

Recommended Posts

I am ready to change but this isn't prompted by a nearly New Year and the resolutions that come with it. I've been thinking about Paleo on and off for a few months after being caught in a dieting/rebounding cycle for years now. As I was searching for information on Paleo this site popped up, I read through, liked it, and suddenly I'm joining and posting in this forum.

I suffer from chronic fatigue, back and pelvis problems and arthritis. Although through scans there is a small physical anomoly that could be causing my back pain there's no real reason for the pelvis problem, and all bloodwork comes back clear for arthritis. I was only diagnosed due to a slight inflammation found on ultrasound.

I used to refuse paracetamol for even a headache. I used to work out for an hour at a time at the gym 4 days a week. Now I take 9 tablets for various things before I even eat breakfast, and 5 before bed. I wake up in the morning after 10 hours in bed and my first thought is 'I'm so tired', I can't walk far, I can't play with my daughter, I can't drive far, I can't stay out late socialising with friends and I am sick of it. I am sick of losing weight through meal replacement diets and then a couple of months later piling that weight back on and then some. I am sick of keeping different sizes of clothes in my wardrobe waiting for the next time I put weight back on.

I need to start with a clean diet and I need it to have longevity. I need to lose weight permanently, but I also need to make my body better from the inside. If it doesn't help with any of my illnesses then at least I tried it and can rule it out. Due to my physical limitations I won't be doing any kind of training or exercise and will just start trying to follow eat Paleo. At some point in the next few days I'll sit and make meal plans and gather some supplies. Wish me luck!

Hi there. I'm new here as well. I contracted glandular fever a few months ago and my doctor is concerned that it is developing into chronic fatigue. As a mum too I feel your pain. Dealing with 2 toddlers is almost impossible if you're exhausted. I've been mostly paleo for about 5 weeks now. I still have a little bit of dairy every other day. But I do feel much better! Once I got past that first week of craving sugar and carbs my energy started coming back. I plan to stick with this for a long time. Good luck and I hope you start to feel some relief soon.

Each day is a new day.  Don't dwell on mistakes or stress about what's to come.  Just breathe and be present.

Paleo would be a great thing to try.  If nothing else, try gluten free to help with the inflammation.  I had severe knee pain before my switch, to the point I was ready to see if surgery was needed (I HATE going to the doctor).  I went paleo, added fermented cod liver oil to my diet (two a day) and my knee is 100%.  It's amazing.

Thankyou! My daughter is 17 months. So far she knows no different as to why Mummy can't get down onto the floor to play with her, or why i have to slide her down my body to the floor instead of bending to put her there, or why I spend a lot of time sat down, but in a few years she will know I do it a bit differently and I don't want her to.

I'm only 30, have been like this for the last couple of years and I just envision such a bleak future. I've been off work sick for the last 6 months and am just about to start back in 4 days time on really small shifts and only a couple of times a week. I am looking forward to it and I hope that will also give me a bit of a boost although there is a chance it could compound things.

I've woken up this morning still really eager to go Paleo which can only be a good thing!
