Doing "hard" training on your non-weightlifting days?

Recommended Posts

Hey all-

I just started level 2 (Recruit!) of the RFG... loving it so far.

My question is-- I don't like having an 'off' day where I don't sweat (Steve says to just get out and do something fun) and feel like I'm getting in a good workout. Can I do interval cardio training on my 'off' days if I do more standard cardio on the 'on' days? Not sure if the science works out on that, but I like being able to feel like I'm pushing myself more often than 3 days a week.

One day at a time.

It depends entirely on what you mean by hard and what your goals are. If you are trying to bulk up, you want to lift heavy and do something like walking on your "off" days. If you are trying to lose fat and preserve muscle, you want to compliment your lifting with something like sprints.

Repairing a lifetime of bad habits...
