This is all new to me, blogging, posting, and being accountable online for my health.  I am a 43 year old stay at home mom that homeschools.  I've had many jobs but this one is by far the best. I didn't used to have a problem with my weight and stayed very active in whatever I chose to do. My grandmother always said idle hands were the devils work.  Then one day after my first child I started to get sick.  It took 8 years to figure out I had Lymes,  It took its' toll on my health and especially my body,  I finally found a program that is working and I am finally feeling strong enough to start exercising again. After much research I have found that the Paleo diet is one of the best for Lymes recovery, something about grains the bacteria really love, and strength training every other day, as tolerated at one third of recommended weight to start is the best form of exercise to maintain strength and get better.  Cardio is not recommended, especially when first starting out because of it weakening the immune system and allowing the Lymes to re -proliferate. So I am hoping to find support for sticking to a healthy diet, especially sugars (love chocolate), and encouragement to keep on exercising slow and steady (if I overdo it I can lay myself up for 3 or more days), and a slow steady healthy recovery so I can be stronger and healthier and able to enjoy the wonderful gift I have of the time with my children and my husband without having to do it from the sidelines.  I have approximately 25 lbs I would like to lose but the weight isn't as important as the strength and energy that I am hoping to gain.  It would be nice though to not be the stereo-typed 43 year old dowdy housewife but instead part of a new generation of us older mom's who not only look good but are truly healthy and strong and teaching our children to do the same no matter what age.

Welcome! I homeschooled my son from K-highschool. I did some cardio stuff back then, but didn't start any strength stuff until after he graduated. I realized that somehow in the busyness of highschool homeschooling, I had stopped paying attention to what I looked like, and when I looked in the mirror I saw someone who had become frumpy and decided I needed to change that. Looking forward to hearing about your continuing journey
