I've lurked on this site on and off for the past year or so, and it's really been a great help to me and my goals.

About a year ago, I chose to join the army as what is roughly the equivalent of a systems administrator. Of course, at the time, I was overweight and weak, and really had no idea how to go about fixing those issues after a lifetime of bad habits. NF helped me get to where I needed to be to be successful in my new career.

Unfortunately, not too long ago,I broke my wrist (scaphoid fracture; 12 - 16 weeks of healing) which lead to me regressing back into my old bad habits when it came to my diet, and the restrictions my doctor put on any sort of weightlifting only compounded those issues. So anyway, here I am almost 4 months post injury wanting to get involved with the community to help myself get back to where I was before and beyond.

I'm really looking forward to getting involved here!

Welcome to the Rebellion!!! I'm sorry to hear about your injury.  That really is difficult because it derails what's been working for you, and you have to think of new ways to move and stay fit.  How's the mobility in the wrist now??  Are you cleared for weight lifting?  If not, there are many alternatives ... but if you can get back to doing what worked for you before, that's great.  If not, we'll get your creative juices going so you can develop a new program.

There's a lot to take in here - but take it slowly and you'll pick it up as you go.

First off, NOTHING is required.  Na da.  You can hang out, read, swap tips and questions and learn from the mentors and fellow nerds.

If you want more accountability, I do recommend the 6-week challenges.  During these challenges, you pick a few goals to work on that will help you improve your life.  6 weeks is usually enough time to let you decide if the new activities are helpful and work for you .... or not. And that's long enough to establish new habits that you can turn into a healthier lifestyle.

The next challenge should start July 28th - keep your eyes open since there will be announcements.    You'd start as a Level 1 Rebel  .... which is where you LEARN about all of the stats, guilds, rpg character, and so on as well as working at setting SMART goals.  Think of it as sort of the tutorial level on a game. You still get to adopt what works for you, and you can ignore the rest.  Some very successful NF people never bother with classes or stat points or race or so on.  They just hang out in the guild that suits their goals best.

Even MOAR accountability?  We have accountability groups of 7 or so people who check up on each other frequently during a challenge.  Plus lots of other, optional fun.

Let us know how we can help you achieve your goals.  Post here ... or you can message me with the envelope icon at the upper right of the screen.

Good luck!!
