New Recruit, Looking to Level Up

Recommended Posts

Hey all, been following this blog and forum for a while now, so I figured I ought to man up, stop lurking, and be a part of the community.

A little about me: 31, single male from central Mass., still kind of struggling to find my athletic prowess. I grew up with minimal involvement in sports (town rec league basketball, volleyball, tennis), but none of it stuck. Started lifting weights junior year of HS, did that through college, then not so much once I was out in the real world. Spent 8 years working a job that was a mix of desk and field work, so that kept me pretty active, but took a new job 6 months ago that's exclusively sitting all day at a desk and WOW I'm feeling it.

I have a few short and long term goals, but I think the most important one for now is to get some consistency in my exercise routine. I'm shooting for free weights focusing on large muscle groups and heavy weights, 3x a week. I just finished my 8th week of said routine, and once I hit week 12 I'll start to focus on the other goals. Hopefully the NF community will hold me accountable!

Welcome! You'll do awesome around here! If you haven't poked around yet, I highly suggest signing up for the next 6 week challenge. I've found those to be the biggest help in keeping me accountable. Also, I'm pretty sure there is a weightlifting guild who will probably be able to help you on your quest (in addition to a few other guilds). Good luck!
