catspaw
Title says it all! I'm trying to shy away from food rewards (even if they're healthy foods) and think up some other ways to spoil myself when I feel reward-deserving. What works for you? 'Roos
Mani/pedi or new clothes (For the new figure). Going and doing something awesome (concert, etc). I used to use every week (or modicum of time) as 'money in the bank' and keep track of it. Every week of being good I would put 5$ in the "Doing something stupid" bank, and I'd spend it on something really silly which was completely unnecessary in my life but which pleased me (ie, silly hat, trip to the water park). Good luck in finding something to motivate and reward yourself with! Quote Link to comment
lostintranslatn
Workout clothes, new shoes, Nerd Fitness gear, a day at the pool instead of the gym, new gym bag or other workout accessories, etc. Also, I know you said you're steering away from food rewards (I tend to agree...if it's healthy, then I'm already having it. And if it's not, then it's not a good reward.), but one thing I do that makes a great reward is a "farm box" delivery...a big box of organic, local veggies. It's such a treat, and you never know what you're going to get! Maybe you have something similar in your area? Quote The rain on my chest is a baptism. I am born again. Link to comment
BarefootDawsy
I take a nap...oh sweet sweet sleep. And unfortunately, I too am a big fan of food rewards..chocolate and licorice are the enemy, but damn they're moorish! Quote BAREFOOT DAWSY Scout Commander (ret.) Link to comment
Brometheus
My reward? Powerlifting gear, books, music, t-shirts, or maybe a night out. I shy away from food rewards too, but an occasional treat with a shot of tequila or gluten-free cookies won't kill me. Quote Link to comment
andygates
Okay, yeah, beer and pizza. But also toys. Shiny sports gear when sticking with a plan or making an event. Pointless wishlist stuff when just going WOOT (hello, drinking horn). Quote Link to comment
Guest Andrew22
My reward is to send the large pizza with any drink but pizza must b large ok......... Quote Link to comment
Glenndingo
I usually eat a huge post work out meal. Can't really do anything else out here lol. But when I'm home I love to drink a beer Quote Link to comment
161803398874989
The feeling that I've done something awesome is enough reward for me. I train because I want to be stronger, better. Not because I want to get some other thing. Quote Quare? Quod vita mea non tua est. You can call me Phi, Numbers, Sixteen or just plain 161803398874989. Link to comment
TibbyUK
I use a longterm reward - I have a really nice suit (which is worth a pretty penny, but I grabbed a bargain in a sale), but it needs tailoring. I have an open invitation to a members club called The Reform Club (famous club in London) which has strict dress code, and I will not go until I have this suit tailored. I see this as a goal and am not getting my suit tailored till I am in the shape I want to be! Might sound silly but it works for me, and is a goal which will also help my career. For short term rewards, and again this is might sound silly, I find comments from my girlfriend are a good reward as although we all truly do this for ourselves, it's nice when your partner notices! Failing that, go for a wicked meat heavy meal at a nice restaurant and treat yourself to some fries with it! Quote Link to comment
Damy
My reward is looking in the mirror and (finally) being okay with what I'm seeing. That's all I need Quote My art: http://damon1984.deviantart.com/gallery/ Link to comment
mcdrew
My reward is looking in the mirror and (finally) being okay with what I'm seeing. That's all I need I'll second that. Being happy with how I look is all the reward I need. Quote Link to comment
