voigtstr
"YOUR FIRST QUEST: Go for a 10-minute walk today." well I smashed that! According to mapmywalk I did 4.65 km (I'm in Australia) in 41.58 minutes. I'm 46. Male. 172cm tall and weight approx 98 Kg. Would like to get down to mid 80's and see how that looks and feels.. but mainly I want to get fit. There will be a few challenges to that though... I tried doing couch to 5K programs and it really started hurting my knees... so I reckon I'll have to stick to brisk walks rather than run/walk intervals until I reduce the weight my knees have to carry. From sitting at a desk all day for the last 15 years doing IT Service Desk work, my core has really gone... I have a small umbilical hernia (doc says too small to operate on) and a diastacis recti or separation of the abdominals along the lina alba (ie the connective tissue between the abs from sternum down to the pubic bone) so... things like sit-ups just exacerbate the issue. Instead, according to internet research, I'm supposed to do exercises where I pull my abs in torwards my spine and hold for like a 10 count and then repeat.... Anyway I've started eating healthier, following the the low carb route, paleo, but occasionally including cheese. So this is the start of my journey... wish me luck! cheersSimon (crossposted with edits from the challenge forum which may have been the wrong place to start) 1 Quote Link to comment
