Dantes
Hey guys, as a chemical engineer (in training) we use excel a wee bit excessively.Just wondering if anyone else has done anything similar and created their own personalised log booksHere's mine as an example.Green = CompletedPink = Me being a lazy s.o.bFor the food one:1g prot = 4 cal 1g carb = 4 cal1g fat = 9 calI try to aim for a 30-30-40 split. The averages are done as a percentage of total calories. Swami
Heya Dantes, I understand what you're talking about with the excel madness. I just graduated a couple of years ago with my ChemE degree, and it doesn't let up in industry. The formulas get pretty wild! I have a question, though. Aren't carbs and protein more like 4 calories per gram instead of 1? I can't see your spreadsheets since photobucket images are blocked at work, so I might be missing something. Also, which of the 30-30-40 split is the '40'? Quote I'm spending a year dead for tax reasons. Link to comment
Dantes
Sorry, that's a typo due to late night exam sleep deprivation. They formulas actually have 4 cal per g sorry. 40 is fat. I try to eat as paleo as possible on my student budget where I only cook dinner once a week (4 flat mates). So I don't attempt to be to anal about it. Quote Link to comment
67alecto
In addition to using caloriecount.about.com, I track everything in excel. I have a database of foods for my food log that uses vlookup, match, etc to find entries and sum the daily calories. I have charts that update to show stats for the last 7 days, pie charts of progress, a running estimation of when I'll hit my goal based on the last weight logged, trendlines over time, etc. Quote Repairing a lifetime of bad habits...
