I'm so excited to see how this all plays out! How does my army fair? How does the alliance fair without me? a real nail biter.

*groan* Something to look forward to...

Have fun, but don't hurt yourself like last week! Unless, of course, that is your idea of fun! :)

Highly apropos, I'd say! :)

The Lizardmen having risen up from there slumber returned to the homeland and retaking there capitol city of Hexoatl, from the clutches of what seems to be a rogue group of Amazonian warriors. But who can be sure in times such as these even the most ardent allies allegiance comes into question. The Lizardmen being cold blooded are not in any hurry to make a decision on whether or not these Amazonians are friend or foe. There eyes and scouts will be ever vigilant on there boarders, in treacherous times like these non can be to careful.

Khalith stood in the dark and stared at the strange lights that wavered and danced in the night sky. Their eerie glow mesmerized her and she caught herself wondering if they were some sort of omen.

She shoved the thought away. She was coming to believe less and less in omens and portents, goddesses and choosings. Here in this wasteland, her years of training and the elaborate rituals of the Sisterhood which had sustained her faith for years seemed to do little to keep away the new, heretical thoughts that came to her mind. She had learned much in recent weeks that had caused her to reevaluate nearly everything she had always thought to be true.

The wind picked up and she drew the robe of llama fur tighter. The cough that had started during her last visit to this place had not gone away, in fact, it was worse with her exertions of the last week. She thought of her troops, asleep in their tents and hoped that they each had found their reason to fight on the morrow.

She knew that she had found hers. Whatever Rigg, fate, or chance held for her, she knew that the knowledge she had gained in the last battle was something the Jaguar Mother and Queen Thalestris had desperately needed to know. If she accomplished nothing else, she could die knowing that she had fulfilled the very first mission she had ever been assigned as a warrior and a scout - to be the eyes and ears of Amazonia and bring back word of the nature of the enemy they faced. That was no small matter.

And, whatever the ultimate truths of existence, that little orange-red rock that she had placed in the black volcanic soil of the chaos wastes on her last journey here was a stone from home, her real home on the high plateau of the Spine of Sotek. She would fight, and die if necessary, for that little bit of Amazonia.

She took a deep breath of air that held no scent of forest or moisture. She gazed up at the magnificence of the scintillating sky. It was good. All manner of things were good. She was ready. Khalith bent and re-entered her tent to get a few more hours of rest.

Yup. Kislev (mitch_dee) stayed home to defend, wasn't attacked by anyone. Didn't get an submissions from Norscan or Vampire players, so I assumed they also stay home and defend. My only question is whether cn3wton had any spare units that he left behind, in order to calculate any Albion losses

And so, Khalith, having lost all the others, picked up her single marble and headed back home... ;)

Meant she only had one marble left out of all her previous marbles, which were in slightly short supply to start with...

With all the craziness of alliances, strategy, and the like this week, Khalith is taking her little rock and heading back to Amazonia for a spell, feeling a little bit like she's losing it. That's all.

No need for alarm, other than bored, slightly unhinged Amazons will need to find something to do next time. The chaos wastes are a bit crazy-making. Especially when you're prepared to get wiped out down to the last woman and coatl.

Cn3wton is not known for leaving troops behind when he moves. I figured we'd be facing him by ourselves, while Albion took a big army east and just looked around at vacant chaos waste. That, I guess, did happen? Cn3 did the unexpected going south and east, that's for sure. Next turn could get really interesting...

Lord Okri addresses his troops,

Those that we speak not about are stirring from their homeland in Zar Naggrund, the shame of the Dwarfs marches to expand their territory for the first time in living memory. We must put these foul blasphemers down before their defilement spreads beyond the wild lands to the East. We must correct the mistake our ancestral brethren made in worshiping chaos and wipe them from the face of our world! My brothers, these are a failed arm of our race and as such it falls to us and us alone to end their defilement of our species once and for all, attack!

The two armies march slowly but inexorably closer to each other before firing their ranged weapons. Once within range the Dwarfs fire everything they have, missing with most. (What are my brethren thinking, being in the ale before a battle perhaps?) The cannon and grudgethrower manage to kill off the Black Orc slaves (at least someone wasn't in their cups!) Rockets fly as two brave Dwarf warriors fall to the incendiary rockets of the Deathstriker.

Round 1 and 2 armies march and Black Orcs die.

The shriek of rockets fly over Okri's head as the Chaos Dwarfs open fire. The organ gun explodes in a brilliant flash of light leaving only a smoking crater where it once was. (new fangled equipment wasn't doing it's job.. who needs it.) The thunderers and the iron drakes recover from the effects of their celebrations last night somewhat, killing 3 infernal guard and the cannon performs wonderfully killing 5 more.

The slayers, being unable to restrain their fury at this perversion of Dwarf kind throw themselves into battle with the remaining infernal guard destroying them utterly and allowing two of their crazed brotherhood to find the glorious death in battle they all seek.

The Dwarf warriors and the longbeards both attack the whirlwind and three warriors and longbeards fall in the battle as the whirlwind is torn to shreds.

The hammerers led by Lord Okri himself destroy the Deathshrieker rocket launcher.

Round three and the battle is over, a short one but not without losses.

Total chaos dwarf wipeout.

Dwarfs lose 5 warriors, 2 slayers, an organ gun and 3 longbeards

Lord Okri looks over his forces and is glad to see a minimum of losses. He does wonder however where the main Chaos Dwarf force is as he expected to meet them striking at his homeland.

Well fought lads, we will be dining in the hall of the High King himself after a victory like this. Let us return to Karaz-a-Karak and find more of our brethren who would be willing to join us in our battle against chaos in all it's forms. We have struck a great blow in the name of Grimnir this day, may we have vengeance on those who have taken him from us!

Sidebar: Grimnir is the Dwarf god of war who marched off to close the chaos gate at the North pole by himself and was never seen again. It is said he fell in darkness long ago but it is also implied he died fighting to hold back the tides of chaos from overrunning the world, buying the high elf sorcerers the time they needed to close the tear between worlds.

Malarielle stood at the bow of her lead ship, wind blowing thrbowough her hair. The letter from her brother had warned of a traitor. A small band of her own brethren had settled on the shores of Mahhabah and, through dark magic or some other means, raised an army from among the local inhabitants. She could abide many things, but treachery was not one of them.

Her ships nosed into a small harbor and marched onto land. As the marched toward the capitol, she could feel the oily sting of dark magic on her skin. Music helped, so she allowed small flutes to play, and the air began to clear.

As they neared the city, the elves cautiously entered a large field. The corsairs and janissaries of Mahhabah stood at the other end. The elven chariots rushed to enter melee, their advance covered by a rain of arrows from their fellow soldiers and winged beasts attacking from the sky. The corsairs fired arrows of their own, taking out the eagles and several bowmen, but the Mahhabah casualties were heavy, and several corsairs fled.  Malarielle rushed in with her calvalry wielding Nimang, the blade not yet wetted. She led the silverhelms in toward a unit of Naffatun, slicing off the head of the leader with one clean stroke. Two silverhelms to her left fell. A chariots rushed in behind them taking down the final Naffatun. Malarielle turned, looking for the next foe to strike, but none remained.

The elves tended their wounded and buried their dead. Malarielle sat with her captains, grave despite the victory. The traitors still lurked, somewhere….

Meanwhile….somewhere in the Old World:

The cry of a jungle bird came across the land. An archer sighed, partly in relief and partly from boredom. The sentries had nothing to report…again.

With their generals off in other lands, and no action in sight, the atmosphere in camp was a bit looser than normal. The charioteers began to wager, first with simple games of dice and then becoming more creative. Things began to escalate when the loser of a footrace suggested that the winner “go have a staring contest with the medusasâ€.  A squad of piranha warriors overheard the taunt, and turned sharply, weapons at the ready. A young elven noble moved to the front, hands outstretched. “Peace, friends,†he said, “No offense was meant. Perhaps you would like to share our fire.â€

The amazons relaxed their weapons, seeming to accept the apology. Later a few came over and they traded stories and songs late into the night. Fortunately everyone had enough sense to keep the eagles apart from the jaguars.

Friends, I've made a difficult decision, but I'm scattering my army to the winds. I'll be back, but for now, I need to focus on my core obligations at home, school, and work. If the PVP continues next challenge, I'll possibly begin with a new general, but as we speak, Halftor is issuing his final orders to the troops, wishing them well, and sending them off to find their glory. I shouldn't be surprised if more than a few of them become pirates after this. I'll be back.

Well, the PvP needs a good restructuring and I'm not sure it can be done before the start of the next challenge. Also, once that's done, I have to somehow automate the battle processing, because it's taking too much weekend time and headspace. Probably gonna put it on standby after this week's fights and re-activate it when it's ready. In the meantime, I have several other ideas I'd like to try out, either as PvPs or Accountability groups. Might do one next challenge while re-designing the Nerdhammer PvP
