MissoulaSquatch
Ok, so the last 12hrs have been pretty epic for me, and I've gotta share. Short backstory leading into last night: The restaurant I work at has a book club, it has been rated the top book club in the Chicago-land area (literally, ask the Tribune). Five years ago at their first meeting they had 12 people, fast forward to today and we have 75 people at our monthly meetings (plus about 20 on the wait list). Last night we celebrated our 5 year anniversary..300 people attended.Ok, backstory done, last night we featured Sandra Brown, NYT Best Selling author (she's absolutely hilarious btw). Now for my "w00t" moment...prior to Sandra taking the stage we did a raffle of various items donated by local businesses. My younger brother and I were called up on stage to do the raffle. Now, I myself am pretty self-confident in one on one situations or in front of small groups of friends or strangers. I've never done well in front of large groups, even when I used to perform music in front of thousands in my HS/College days..I still had serious stage fright issues I dealt with. Last night, I was relaxed, I was confident, and I had fun. I have a tremor in my right hand that usually goes nuts when I'm nervous, last night I kept it under control. It was absolutely exhilarating to be that relaxed.Funny side story: The manager who MC'd the event last night intro'd me and my brother (I've never had 200+ women screaming at me before..but I'd totally do it again) and proceeded to ask the room what they'd think of a "Men of Tuscan Calendar" (more screaming women...seriously, it was awesome)..which I may actually push them to produce it..lol. Anyways, on with the funny, she also got my mom to stand up for the room. Fast forward to the raffle, I stick my hand in the basket, stir around the tickets, pull one out..and I totally pulled my mom's ticket on the first item. After which I graciously bowed out of pulling more tickets..didn't want anyone to think we'd rigged it.So yeah..all in all, awesome night last night! The after party hanging out with Sandra was awesome.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Today's w00t was my second session with my Personal Trainer. Today we combined some of the stretches I learned last week with some light weights, resistance bands, exercise balls, and an elliptical and did interval training. First "real" workout I've had in awhile, kept my heart rate up for about 45 minutes with little resting between exercises. While I've most certainly had harder workouts in my more fit youth, this was one of the best workouts I've had in almost a decade..and it felt great, I can't wait to go back for another session! (Altho I will be back several times before then since not all of the exercises can be adapted at home).--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------TLDR: Last night I had 200+ women screaming at me and I was totally chill about it, today I got my "workout" on.Totally psyched to keep this transformation process rolling!
