post-birthday respawn

Recommended Posts

I have been off the wagon since my labor day birthday weekend, so 3 months now.

I started a big change effort last march to get ready for my 10 year college reunion this past october and also prove to myself that my thyroid (i have a benign nodule) was fine and i could lose weight. Well, I dove right in and started crossfit. I went twice a week and then 3 times a week until September hit. I turned 32 and saw that I was getting stronger but not losing weight. I had also cleaned up my diet, no more carbs, tacos, burgers, and nachos. So I mentally gave up.

I went to the doctor last week and found out that my cholesterol levels were not good and that was a wake up call. I setup a private training session with a weightlifting coach and am getting myself back in the gym.

Steve's article came just at the right time to give me more motivation to stick with it. I am recommitting to fitness and healthy eating. I probably wont go back to crossfit as I just got too much anxiety before going to each class. I really loved the rush after a crossfit workout, but I havent been in 2 months and it just doesn't seem worth getting over the mountain of social anxiety when I can get a solid workout on my own.

Wish me luck.

Ugh, a MOUNTAIN of social anxiety??  That makes what I deal with sound like a nice little hill.  You go ahead and stick with those training sessions you set up and avoid that mountain for a while.  If you don't love it, you wont stick with it.

Nice work on arranging the lifting session - sounds like it could be really awesome for you. Definitely ease yourself back into the crossfit, if you still want to. Mountains are climbed one step at a time, not by trying to jump all the way to the top in one go.
