BopGun
A mechanical problem with my car has stranded me where I now live instead of being home for Christmas, as I expected I would be. Combine with that the expected gym closure, the two off days from training that I'm going to need for travel and dissatisfaction with my workout from yesterday and I decided to challenge myself physically this Christmas with something I would have considered outlandish just six months ago. I wanted to do 100 pushups today, in shorter sets than I usually use and with those sets spaced out throughout the day. Went with 12 sets of 7 and then 2 sets of 8 with a minimum of 45 minutes of rest between sets. The rest breaks needed to be increased to more than an hour by the last few sets. My chest and arms are sore, and some of the reps were quite hard to grind through no matter how much rest I'd had since the previous set, but damn it, I got them without failing a single rep. This is something for me, considering I only did the first actual pushups of my life in late August. The ability of this community to uplift people in it continues to amaze me. Keep pushing, nerds! You're very likely stronger and tougher than you think. I'm discovering this for myself a little bit at a time. 5 Quote Link to comment

childofscorn
Leave it to you to turn a setback into an opportunity. You already know how proud I am to call you my friend, but you're also a great wellspring of inspiration for others, and that's really cool. Keep up the great work, Bopgun! \o/ Quote "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." Link to comment
