zenmom
My husband and daughter have been taking matsubayashi shorin-rye karate for almost five years. I started taking classes at the end of summer too. We had our yearly karate banquet and I was promoted to a yellow belt. Go me! My husband, who was born with spina bifida but is not in a wheel chair, was promoted to green with black stripe. Our amazing 13 year old daughter was promoted to second brown and was given an award for most dedicated and for assistant of the year. She has been assisting Sensei teach at our dojo with the little dragons and older kids in the lower belts as well as assisting at a local recreation center class he is teaching. She also goes in almost every sunday to help clean the dojo and recently set up a water bottle recycling program at the dojo. I'm having a proud mom moment.
