Denver in March

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions on sites to see, feats to conquer, food to eat, etc.?

Haven't been to Denver in a couple of years so I can't help with sights, but you really need to find a restaurant with really good Rocky Mountain Oysters. I'll see if I can find a place that makes them right. Best is hot off the now steer into a frying pan over the branding fire but barring that some restaurants do a good job too.

OK Here are 2 well recommended restaurants.

The Fort in Morrison, outside of Denver to the west near the big hogback. I've eaten there a lot but it was about 30 years ago. It was my favorite place to go to when I lived over on that side of the mountains. They are still ranked high so I'd expect their food to be good. http://www.thefort.com/ They will also have a lot of game meat that shoudl also be very well done.

The only other restaurant that is coming up as a possibility is Buckhorn Exchange. I've never eaten there. It's billed as a touristy place so beware but they do list Rocky Mountain Oysters on the menu. http://www.buckhorn.com/

This article talks about other places to get them but I know nothing about the author. http://www.5280.com/magazine/2010/02/rocky-mountain-oysters

If you drink beer, Falling Rock Tap House in LoDo is good, been there several times. Don't know about food there but assume it's decent pub grub. http://fallingrocktaphouse.com/

Only times we went to Denver was to take fleeces to the wool mill, and when they closed we found one nearer to us so haven't been back in a while.

Hope that helps.

feats to conquer

the red rocks shuffle...imagine you're going to a show at the best outdoor facility in the world (shameless plug), get slobberknockered drunk and go from the bottom to the top, across the top row, then back to the bottom...across the bottom row, then back up to the top

seriously, somebody attending a show at red rocks would make these very moves, many times over the duration of the show

it will gas you something good

check in with the natives the closer to your trip...the weather could be anything from 60-80s one day to 3-5 feet of snow the next, not joking
