kate_09
Hey All,My name is Kate and I am brand new here! I'm happy to have found this forum as I'm definitely more of a nerd than a fitness junkie. I'm 23 year old graphic designer in need of some serious encouragement. I suffer from severe generalized anxiety disorder and depression and I know fitness will help me out of my funk when needed, but it's so hard to get started. I'm going to check out a gym tonight but I struggle with creating my own structure on what to do during the workout. Do you have any favorite routines that you stick to? Maybe an android app? I would like to mainly weightlift without a spotter. I look forward to getting to know everyone! 2 Quote Link to comment
Tanktimus the Encourager
Check out Steve's Beginner Bodyweight Workout. It's a great place for someone to start and it doesn't cost any money! It doesn't sound like you're worried about weight loss, but eating well can help you feel better no matter your fitness goals. The same blog has some good posts about eating healthy as well. We just started a six week challenge on Monday, why not head over to the recruit section and see if you want to start a challenge thread? You can do this, you are already taking positive steps for your health and fitness, just keep taking the next one! 1 Quote Current Challenge "By the Most-Righteous-and-Blessed Beard of Sir Tanktimus the Encourager!" - Jarl Rurik Harrgath Link to comment

I'm currently 155 lbs and 5'5" so I would like to lose about 15 pounds but it isn't my main priority. I find I slim down pretty quickly once I start on a fitness regimen. I'll look at the challenge threads; that sounds right up my alley. Quote Link to comment

laughing_dog
*gasp* the images are gone! Either way, there is a lot of good advice floating around this forum and website. There are a couple of good standardized routines to start with, and after picking people's brains and reading up you should figure out something that works well for yourself and your particular goals. Good luck! Quote Miles run, 17.3/72 24%24% Days with logged fitness 9/43 20.9%20.9% Days without refined sugar 7/43 16.3%16.3% my challenge thread! Link to comment
