Respawning Post-Spawning!

Greetings beings! Tiny Oak here.

It's been 4 years since I tried my first challenge, saw something shiny and burned out at the same time, and disappeared! What's with all these guilds and academies and wotnot...

Fast forward to today, where it's 3 AM and I'm mum to a 5-week-old, who is currently using my arm as a pillow as I tap away on my iPhone. Taking care of Acorn involves not only breastfeeding her every 1.5 hours, but acting as a bed most of the day. See, she hates not being held. So all the pithy advice about "do X while the baby sleeps" is largely moot. Big Oak helps out a lot, but works full time. I work 1.5 hours 4x week as a college instructor, which gets me out of the house but leaves long parenting shifts in place. We do have a sitter during those mornings.

But I digress, I'm here to talk about badassery, not grouse about kiddo's current quirks. (Not that I don't already feel like a badass for carrying and then delivering her.)

Tl;dr: new baby, little non-baby time.

I'm here to reestablish a fitness habit that helps me keep my depression in check, as well as just makes me feel good about myself. I'm figuring out my main quest, aside from that.

Past pursuits:

- meditation - yoga - belly dance - cycling for fun and distance - weightlifting

Past quests (incomplete):

- ride a century on the Katy Trail - participate in a Scottish Heavy Games event, i.e. throw heavy stuff -

Past quests (complete):

- dance like your pants are full of ants - ride the 20 mile route of the Courage Ride (a local charity ride)

Nice to learn more about you! Are you still into yoga and meditation? 

 

Into them, yes!  I am not currently practicing either in any structured sense, although I try to practice mindfulness whenever possible.  I'm sure that meditating with an anxious, protective dachshund is good prep for meditating with a human kiddo. :D
