Starting NF on Jan 1...that's just a coincidence...

Recommended Posts

HI!

So yes, Jan 1 is a typical day to start a new regime and get all healthy and go to the gym twice a day and become strong like bull. BUT, in my defense, I really needed a set date to get back on track. Holidays came in with a bang...I got married, ate burritos like it was my job, and made it my mission to taste test every Christmas cookie I saw. But previous to this, I was pretty good, about 75% paleo for a few months, maintained a solid weight training routine for about 2 months (built for me by my amazing new husband) and really enjoyed it. But of course, there are excuses for everything and as soon as your routine gets interrupted a few times, it's like the whole thing goes out the window and you find yourself on the couch watching Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reruns with Dill Pickle chips in one hand, and a Diet Pepsi in the other. Mmmmmm....why aren't dill pickle chips paleo? Seriously.

And now I find myself here. All I've heard for months is how amazing the NF Community is. Supportive, encouraging and full of advice and ideas....my new hubby has been ranting and raving about how NF is a great way to stay on track. So here's my attempt. I'm going to work hard, everyday. I want to remember how good it feels to feel healthy, and to maintain it, regardless of location, schedule and those unpredictable schedule changers.

Fun fact: I'm not concerned about my weight in numbers---I want to feel good about my body, become more solid and less...soft around the edges ;)

Not so fun fact: Tight budget this year means no more gym membership. This means I have to be smart about what I do to stay fit and how I stay disciplined.

Thanks for listening to my rant... I am sure I'll have a breakdown or two, and want to give it all up for my elastic waist track pants and a Big Mac (with extra pickles, and a side of sweet and sour sauce for the fries). But I'm going to try. Everyday. And when I want to crack...this will be the first place I come.

Cheers to a new year and new mentality!

Leila

Your hubby is definitely right.

The fact that you're concerned about how you feel as opposed to how you look is huge. You're 10000x more likely to see long term results. (True statistic that I just made up.)

You definitely don't need a gym to get fit! Look around the NF blog for the body weight routines, if you haven't already. There are a couple great ones.

Good luck!
