Enoch
Hey-o, I’m not new to the NF boards, but returning after a few years’ absence. I joined in early 2013 and got fit, but then some personal stuff derailed me. I haven’t quit exercising entirely, but tapered down and lost some of the good eating habits I learned here. I want to re-new myself, drop 10 pounds and accept a challenge from a colleague to run a 5K with him December 13 (eight weeks). I’m committed to it all but I could use some guidance and support as I move back into a “rebellious†regimen. Any advice ... and can anyone get my back? Enoch
Used the beginners body weight workout this morning and it kicked my butt. I can't believe how out of shape I am. I made it through three reps though and am committed to it every other day until the next six-week challenge. On off days I'll run and gradually stretch my distances to get ready for my upcoming 5K. Also beginning to purge the pantry and refrigerator from those foods that are not my friends. Am I better by easing back into this like described or going all-in right away? SpecialSundae
Hey and welcome back! Definitely ease back into it. Last thing you want is to overdo it and wind up injuring yourself. Good luck with the new regime! 1 Quote Link to comment
Enoch
Thanks Sundae! I'm going against my inclination which is to jump in with both feet expecting quick results. I suspected it may be more difficult to keep the commitment by doing that but didn't really consider the (potential) injury aspect. I've also been scoping out these couch-to-5K apps. I'm not exactly starting at "couch" level, but are these programs the best training/preparation regimens? SpecialSundae
I'm fairly fit but I'm doing a C25K programme at the moment. Better to undercook than burn out. 1 Quote Link to comment

Nothing wrong with being a bit cautious when it comes to working out, especially with something new, or something you've been out of for a while. 1 Quote "Insanity - you make my world a better place man, you really do! Life is a gradual progression. We can make our workout routines such as well. Quote LEVEL 1 ADVENTURERSTR 2 | DEX 2 | STA 2 | CON 3 | WIS 3 | CHA 3 7%7% '][/progress] Link to comment
