Bucket Lists!

Recommended Posts

I'm not asking people to post their whole bucket lists, as I'm sure a lot of them may be private, but inspired by Steve (Among others) I opened up notepad, and just started typing.

30 items later, i have noticed a lot of my things revolve around travelling - Even stuff like 'Learn to Snowboard' - That's so that I can hit up the Ski Season in the Alps!

It could be simply because travelling is on my mind at the moment, but hey!

I will keep adding to it over the weekend while I start to plan one of my aims (Get visible 6-pack abs - Hitting the gym after work tonight to get a measurement of my base fitness/lifting capabilities). I've had a toof/gum infection the past week so I have been in too much pain to even eat, so I figured getting better was more important. Now the swelling has gone down, I'm rearing to go.

I ticked off 'Make my own homebrew' which was a pear cider - bottled earlier this week, but I cant drink it yet as I am still on anti-biotics. I also have ' Start a blog and keep it updated' on there. That will hopefully start next week - Up until now I haven't had the subject matter to put in there, so never bothered. So anyways, Here is the start of my list:

  • Become a Doctor of something.
  • Visit China
  • Visit New Zealand
  • Own a powered boat
  • Restore a motored vehicle (Van/car/bike/boat)
  • Route 66
  • Get a 6-pack abs
  • Run a marathon
  • Learn to snowboard
  • Earn a 5-figure salary
  • Start a business
  • Program my own app
  • Program a computer game
  • Clear out all my useless junk, and minimise everything
  • Become debt free
  • Win a 1st place trophy
  • Learn to sail a ship
  • set up a media server
  • Become an instructer in any watersport
  • Learn to surf
  • Own more than 2 suits
  • Own a house
  • Build a wooden canoe
  • Learn archery
  • Learn how to fix minor car problems
  • Ride in a helicopter
  • Peru
  • Learn bushcrafting techniques
  • Start a blog, and keep it updated
  • Learn indoor/outdoor climbing
  • Kayak down a river (Haven't been on moving water since a shoulder dislocation/chipped tooth on a river about 6 years back)

A lot of these are a bit vague, as I don't know what targets I need to shoot for in some of the given activities. Once I create the blog, I'll pop some background info on there. So.. What's on Your bucket list, and selfishly - Any advice on completing mine would be epic!

Don't tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon

What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place?

What if to get to heaven you have to brave hell?

What if everything you ever wanted, cost all you ever achieved?

Would you go there?

There's actually a category in the blog section called "Epic Quest" if y'all are interested :) (you can carry on here though, not trying to move you!)

Sorry Spezzy! Can I use the excuse that I'm new? Probably not...

I'm totally stealing a few items from your lists! Especially the Japanese Karaoke one, aswd00!

Three trips on the Appalachian Trail sounds really hardcore, Atalan!

Matow, a doctor of something? Anything will do, or you just haven't narrowed it down enough yet?

Awsd00, why the interest in Germany? And having lived in Japan as long as I have, I find your goal of singing karaoke with drunk Japanese people in Japan to be quite curious. I've never really looked at it as being that special, though it is a lot of fun. I guess I take it for granted.

My bucket list isn't all that long. Sure, there are tons of things I want to do and accomplish, but I only have five things I feel I need to do before I die.

  1. Trans-Siberian train trip. I wrote about this in my Epic Quest blog so I'll keep it short here, but I must do this. I've been back and forth the US by car, up and down Japan by train, and I want to put the biggest country on earth under my belt. Such a huge expanse of land that's still wild and unsettled is so alluring. At the moment, I'm planning on going next year.
  2. Become fluent in a foreign language. I can speak a bit of Japanese, but I'm still so far from fluent it kills me a little inside to think about it. I've also started learning Russian, in preparation for my Trans-Siberian trip next year. Hopefully Russian turns out to be easier, though I doubt it will.
  3. Learn to play an instrument. I've always loved music, just wish I could play it.
  4. Get in shape and stay in shape.
  5. Get a Ph.D. I'm planning on going back to school from next year, in the hopes of getting a Ph.D in anthropology/archaeology.
