Interview help?

Recommended Posts

I'm an American, so I don't know if college/uni interviews are different.  If not, I would expect you would be asked what you are interested in/passionate about and why.  You will probably talk about the reason you are interested in the uni and your career goals.  Be sure to talk about your past experiences (especially leadership or relevant courses and clubs).  For example, I did research in high school about bacteriophages, so I made sure to highlight that and the class associated with it in interviews.

Also, stay positive!  If asked about your weaknesses (more common in job interviews probably) then ALWAYS turn it into a positive.  You want to make sure to be concise and highlight your passion, creativity and academic strength.

If the UK does technical interviews instead of behavioral ones, then I'm really sorry.  That seems scary, but I'm not quite sure what they could ask for bioscience.

BUUUUUT no matter what, make sure to keep a smile on your face and come up with questions beforehand to ask your interviewer!  If they are an alum, it might be about their experiences, otherwise you should ask questions about the program specifics or the campus culture, just as long as it's not something very easily googleable (on the Department website, for example).  And make sure to write a follow-up thank you!

(Sorry for not being concise here, but be your awesome self and best of luck!)
