For me today was going in to PT, feeling tired because I've been moving file cabinets and hay bales and the pT said well since you already did stuff I'll let you off with only 2 reps of weight circuit. AAnd I said no let me try for 3 but I reserve the right to wimp, and NOT WIMPING!!!! 3 folks cheering you on really helps.... I even did 30 incline pushups, a personal best.

The other day I was setting a new personal record for distance run. I was *worn.* My goal was probably too high. I was getting sloppy with my form, which is terrible when running in Vibrams as I was. I still had another 5 minutes to go, and I saw one of my old high school classmates. He was about 60 pounds heavier than when we were in school five years ago, which was where I was about 8 months ago. Nothing has ever made me pick up pace like that.

Another thing that gets me going is a speech by my alma mater's football chaplain. The chills start at 1:00.

Want to bump that up another level? The speech got integrated into a song on the new Roots album. If this song comes on while I'm running, don't get in my way.

Music helps a lot. If I'm really having a hard time, I go to making my war face in the mirror. Nostrils flared, eyes wide open, teeth gritted, neck bulging. Full out Hulk mode. Flex and grunt when the set's done. Works like a charm.

Never think of pain or danger or enemies a moment longer than is necessary to fight them. -Ayn Rand

Amongst those less skilled you can see all this energy escaping through contorted faces, gritted teeth and tight shoulders that consume huge

amounts of effort but contribute nothing to achieving the task.
