RuthO
Hi, everyone - a mostly newbie here in the ATX. I signed up for NF about a month ago and have worked through the core modules, working on setting myself up for success and making better choices. I'm in my late 40s, a native Texan, and on my second career. I started out in life sure that I wanted to be like Hawkeye Pierce and I've sort of done that. The Air Force paid my way through medical school, I paid them back with three years of my life. Finished surgical residency after the Air Force and practiced in New England (including by-God rural Maine). Leaving the military - I got out of the fitness habits and justified that I deserved lazy time with all the crazy hours I was working. Well - for a variety of reasons, I realized that practicing surgery was turning me into a person that I just didn't like and on top of that I was having panic attacks - like, literally having to spend an extra ten minutes of crying and shaking and trying to get past that so I could actually get into the building and work. So - now I'm back in Texas and working in health IT as the manager of a content team and much more sane. But! My weight ballooned and I wasn't fit at all. My husband and I love to travel and love going to Disney - and I realized on certain trips last year that:- Fastening an airplane seatbelt was a giant struggle- I was having to stop walking around Epcot every 5 minutes to rest So - I want to fasten an airplane seatbelt without struggle, want to walk and hike and enjoy it without having to stop and rest every five minutes, and there are some other reasons also, but I'm here! So - hi! Quote Link to comment
Silverspurbbr
HI! and welcome. I come from a military family so I know there is something special about our military people, they can do anything (therefore, you can do anything). Your next visit to Epcot will be awesome... Hope to see you around the forums.. Bree 1 Quote Link to comment
