Guest Snake McClain
So I hurt my shoulder about s month ago...and it isn't getting better. Over the past week its gotten worse. The doctor said its possibly a minor rotator cuff tear. I can lift weights. Do most of wrestling but every once in a while I turn my arm a certain way and I'm in excruciating pain. This terrifies me. My whole life I've wanted to do this and now someblame ass injury is probably going to stop me. Not forever. But for a while. See I'm probably going to need surgery. Which means a long recovery time. Any one know what the recovery time on a surgery like this is? Yeah me either. Here's hoping I don't get worse so I can keep following my dream. Quote Link to comment
CapN_Tommy_Sunshine
That sucks, but it will at worst just delay the dream. Remember that Ric Flair broke his freakin' back in the plane crash and went on to be one of the greatest champions of all time! Quote Link to comment

Look at it this way: would you rather live with the pain and possibly create a more serious injury, or would you like to get it out of the way, spend only two months recovering and then have it done and over with?It sucks, but if there's no way around it there's nothing you can do. Pat G
Go burnem BRUCE!Obviously when you say probably surgery, you've had it checked out by doctors/medicos/physios etc etc for their diagnosese? I know hardly ANYTHING about wrestling. Is there a way where you can categorise moves you should and should not do, the ones that do and do not cause you pain? Post us some footage or images if you get the chance. Quote "Strength is the cup. The bigger the cup, the more you can put in" - JDanger Link to comment
oystergirl
Sending you a big hug bruce. My brother just went through this and since he is a chief engineer in the merchant marines it sidelined him from work for about 6 months due to the heavy physical labor of his job. I am with Scarlet on the rehab. YOU have to do it, but also definitely think about all the professional athletes who rehab in the off season. You can still walk, do lower body etc. and if you want your dream bad enough this isn't going to stop you, it is only going to make you mentally stronger and better. Guest Snake McClain
I know my doctor personally and talked to him today. He said he is going to get me in physical therapy now before we dint an MRI to decide on surgery. Today in class nothing hurt me too bad. So that is good. I'm hoping therapy helps because of some certain circumstances I can't be sure that if I miss this then there will be other chances. Not in my training school now anyway. I'd have to go somewhere else. I'm just going to approach it positively and do what the doctors tell me and hope for the best. Quote Link to comment
Blaizen
Bruce, find yourself a sports and exercise scientisit or a biomechanics specialist to talk too. Speaking form my own experiences physios tend to focus on getting your body working again but take a very singular approach to it. The afore mentioned professionals will take a more rounded approach, helping your body to recover faster. It's because of all my injuries and experiences with physios that I'm currently studying Sports and Exercise Science, and what they tell us we'll be covering as we progress is really mind blowingly cool. I'll definately be able to help people when I finish this thing, but if you can find one to talk with or have a session with, you might get more help and advice than the physio alone will give you. Of course you may get a really good physio, I know they do exsist, I just tend not to find them...... Quote http://fightingcircumstance.wordpress.com/ Link to comment
