Mechthild, getting my health back

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just joined, because I'm on a quest to get my health and my life back. I'm a 41 y/o woman and will go by Mechthild on this forum. The name means "mighty warrior" and that's what I am.

I've spent most of this year in treatment for breast cancer. Lost my hair, my strength and stamina and some body parts in the process, but things are looking good and I'm very slowly working my way back up.

For now, I do rehab with a physical therapist twice a week, but eventually I want to incorporate more estab in my daily routine. This is the perfect time to start building a new routine.

I've been eating Paleo-ish since about a year before I got cancer and I believe that is one of the reasons why I went through treatment as well as I did. However, I was and still am pretty overweight, so losing that is one of my goals.

There is not so much you can do to prevent cancer from returning, but anything I can do, I will. Since treatment put me into sudden menopause I also need to be alert on the possibility of osteoporosis. Healthy eating (getting enough vit D, calcium and magnesium) and brisk walking can help prevent that, so that's on my list as well.

Goals:

  • lose weight (get BMI under 30)
  • establish a daily fitness routine
  • get stronger
  • work on stamina

I guess I'm not your average newbie here, but I'm definitely motivated to get going.
