Hey all! I'm a newb to NF & praying this is it...finally something I can stick with! I guess it's really up to me though, right?? Anyway, I'm 37 (ugh...), 5'2" & an uncomfortable 168 lbs (on a good day). I have 2 BUSY & amazingly smart little boys (4 & 7), who I split custody of with their dad (who is a total douche in my book, just saying). I am a newlywed & married my very own nerd (they are the BEST) on April 8 this year! My hobbies include drinking craft beer, reading, Cardio Dance (!!!), finding new fun places to explore with my kiddos & husband & binging on Game of Thrones. I'm an x-ray technologist at a local hospital & spend a large portion of the day on my feet...never know what's gonna walk through the door so it varies from 1 day to the next. I believe I am the Overeager Beaver & tend to take on more than I can handle, thus setting myself up for failure within a couple of weeks when it comes to eating healthy. I'm not a total rookie...I know what constitutes as "healthy" & "crap", but why does the "crap" have to be soooooooooo yummy??? Yes, I know...the "crap" will never taste as good as looking good feels. But it seems much more difficult to convince yourself of that when most of the social activities in my world revolve around FOOD: eating out, grabbing a drink with my friends or hubby, rewarding yourself with ice cream at the end of a stressful day. I'm not the best cook & I like simple...like SUPER SIMPLE recipes...or I'm out & I just go grab something from a restaurant. Eating out has become so very easy & incredibly tempting. I try to make healthy choices (but that doesn't always happen). And my wallet doesn't appreciate the stress of the prices that restaurants offer. I'm hoping with a little support here & baby steps that aren't too overwhelming I can become the supermom my kids want me to be!

Now...here is my Main Goal in the upcoming challenge: Lose 20 lbs within the next 6 months!

I hope to achieve this goal beginning with my smaller challenges over the next 4 weeks:

DIET

1. Take a processed snack a day & replace it with a healthy protein, fruit or veggie.

2. Cook 2 healthy dinners each week rather than eating out (protein & 2 veggies).

FITNESS

*Complete the NF bodyweight workout at least 1x per week.

LEVEL UP MY LIFE

*Have a 5 minute dance part each day!!

Hey there GoGetEmGirl, welcome to Nerd Fitness! You can totally do this! It's not hard if you just take it one decision at a time, and it looks like you're all set on what decisions to start with. ;)

 

There's a four week challenge starting up tomorrow if you'd like to jump in. This post seems like both an introduction and a challenge post, so I could move it to the Lv 1 guild for you if you'd like. The Lv 1 guild will have other people who are just starting out on their Nerd Fitness journey, so you can get the hang of things and meet some new friends while you settle in.
