Venus transit is NOW!!

I went to a talk at the planetarium at my university, then they had a viewing where they had a 30 cm telescope set up. I got to see it when Venus was part-way onto the sun and still had the atmosphere halo effect going on. Several people also brought set-ups like yours, and the planetarium/viewing was handing out glasses that didn't magnify anything but had foil lenses so you could look right at the sun (Venus was reeeaally tiny).

My hastily set up transit scope (consisting of a camera tripod, a music stand, binoculars, duct tape and cardboard):

Results are pretty good. I invited the neighbor kids to come over and see it, they thought it was cool!

Wow! Nice shot! I didn't know if one could see it without a big telescope, but yes, you can!

I saw this video that NASA took. Amazing!
