maegs Posted June 6, 2012 Report Share Posted June 6, 2012 I went to a talk at the planetarium at my university, then they had a viewing where they had a 30 cm telescope set up. I got to see it when Venus was part-way onto the sun and still had the atmosphere halo effect going on. Several people also brought set-ups like yours, and the planetarium/viewing was handing out glasses that didn't magnify anything but had foil lenses so you could look right at the sun (Venus was reeeaally tiny). I didn't know if one could see it without a big telescope, but yes, you can!I saw this video that NASA took. Amazing!
