Since other people are posting photos of cute kids, I thought I'd share this pretty monarch butterfly that was in my garden today. I've spent the last several years killing off grass, weeds, and invasive species, and replacing them with native plants like the pale purple coneflower in this photo. As a result, the yard has seen a big increase in butterflies, dragonflies, etc.

And a bluebird (they come in for mealworms when I whistle):

Monarchs seem to be quite abundant this year. I've had a ton of caterpillars on my milkweed!
