Getting a Mortgage?

Hello Rebellion!

My Life Goal for this challenge is to get a Mortgage. I've got an appointment with a Mortgage Center on Monday. It's time to stop throwing away money on rent and time to start building equity. Our rent is getting jacked up to $1480 a month. Way more than most mortgages in the area.

I'm trying to get prepared. What do I need to take with me? What should I expect? Is there any way to give me a better chance to get a pre-approval? The way I see it my chances are pretty slim... my wife and I both work in retail... not the greatest paying jobs, but I've been at it long enough I make a relatively decent wage. We also have little to nothing for a down payment. I could sell some stocks I have and get about $4000.

Any help and tips would be appreciated. Success stories?
