Artinum Posted March 16, 2013 Report Share Posted March 16, 2013 I gave up on bicycles when I was little. Without stabiliser wheels, I simply couldn't get anywhere on them. This has bothered me now and again for many years, and so when I recently saw a scheme for free adult cycling courses through my local council, I went for it. First session of five today. I started out scooting on a bike like I was about ten years old again. Three other adults, some older than me, were just as timid and unskilled, so I felt a lot less self conscious. By the end of the two hour session, I was pedalling - cycling unsteady laps around the car park. I CAN CYCLE!! Corners are still a problem for me, but give it time - I have another four sessions to look forward to in which to practice my pedalling. I've taken the rest of the day off from exercises. I am exhausted and sore in areas I didn't even know I had. But wow, I feel great! What happens when you play Final Fantasy VII with everyone called Cloud? Though at the moment they're more a world of "aaaaargh I'm going to crash and I can't steer!" It'll take me a bit longer yet to get the hang of it!
