Not only is he interested in exploring the world for new and more interesting spells and twists on his own spells, but also in putting himself in new and interesting situations to use them in different ways and to explore their effects and applications. When the blood sprays from the man's neck, Fig raises an eyebrow. Ah, the charm spell could be used to distract an enemy long enough for an ally to take advantage as long as the mage himself didn't actually try or intend to do harm. Fig wonders, if he cast the spell with the intent of distracting so others could do harm, would that cause the spell to fizzle through the overt action clause it was built upon? He would have to experiment further, but he suspected the intent might indeed cause the spell to fizzle and his allies would have to make such choices to take advantage without Fig's input or intentions. Very interesting. All these thoughts went through Fig's head in mere moments as the man died before the mage casually turns his head to find another target, one that might be overwhelming their opponent or otherwise be advantageous to distract from the battle for a moment and bring to his side. He didn't think the leader was going to last much longer, or that these barbarians/bandits were the type to flee should their leader fall, so distracting him is quickly ruled out. With the barbarism of these people evident, he hoped he hadn't accidentally killed someone and put himself in the middle of a power struggle for his rare skills. Maybe a surge had been incited and caused something quite grand to happen that they were seeking to harness.
