A question for the Ab Gurus

Recommended Posts

Hello Nf'ers! I know a lot of you know your stuff about efficient exercise, and I was wondering if I could get some advice for this upcoming challenge.

One of my goals is to strengthen my core; not looking to lose nor gain weight, but just a solid, stable trunk to use when I start being able to exercise properly. For the majority of the next six weeks, I won't have access to any sort of gym, equipment or facility; all I will have at my disposal will be a bedroom, and my own self. I will also, by my estimate, only be able to devote about 10 min a day to my exercise.

So my question is, what are the most efficient bodyweight moves for core strength? I know crunches are out of the question, and I do love a good plank, but other than that I would really appreciate some ideas to get me in a good direction. Even if they're crazy over-the-top, it'll give me something to strive for... Thanks in advance, I appreciate it!

L-sits.

Seriously. Practice them. Very good core strength.

I will seriously practice them. L-sits. ...If I do them, will they keep The Notebook at bay?

plank

plank row ( even body weight is good)

chest taps

wall mountain climbers

turn over push ups

single leg pushups

uneven pushups ( one hand elevated-one hand down)

scorpion pushups

flutter kicks

scissor kicks

walking pushups

Awesome, double-awesome and all the awesome! Thank you so much!

I don't know what many of them are, but that's what Google was made for. :)

This. Although you can generally look at static dip variations like a more frog-like position or just experiment a bit and see what you can roll with. You can also try L-sits from a pullup bar/tree, in case of the latter if you really want to crush it you can try pullups/chinups from that position.
