Duality
It seems anglophone often prononce it Stephan-E. Which is not the case. Damn being French, it sure has it's benefits, but why did my parents have to give me a French name! QQ Quote It's not 80% diet, 20% exercise, it's 100% diet, 100% exercise. Give it your all. cyndidee
Okay, since you brought it up, why in the world do French words have a bunch of letters that aren't pronounced? When I try to pronounce French words, I just leave off the last few letters and it seems to work. Your name works with this theory, now that I know it's French. Out of curiosity, how do you pronounce Ephemere? (There's three accents but I can't copy and paste from the website: http://www.unibroue.com/en/beers/ephemere_apple/product ) My husband and I have been pronouncing it "eff-em-ERE" but that has to be wrong. Duality
closer to eff-em-air (would be said like effet-mère) mère is mother in french. Also Stéphane would be Stéphan without the E at the end, wouldn't work in French because the N wouldn't be pronounced the same way. In English Steph-ane is pronounce Stef-anne, but without the e at the end it dosen't change anything (stef-ann). French pronounciation of phan and phane, isn't the same. Steve Urkel's alter ego was named Stefan as an English adaptation to Stéphane. FrenchStéphane = stéph-anneStéphan = stéph-an (an as in year in French) EnglishStéphane = Steph-anneStéphan = Stephen = Steven But I don't really care how anglophones pronounce my names, there are translanguage challenges everywhere and cannot expect people to be perfect, especially when they do not have a change to practice it. As long as there's no i at the end. Steve, steven, stephen, stephan, stephane are all acceptable, but stephanie is not. lol. I'm just lucky I'm fluent in both English and French.
