Need a new TV show

Recommended Posts

Cool.  I must, however, give you a big heads up on the show.

It's about a Motorcycle Club (or gang). There is violence and illegal activities.

There is also love & family.

Just don't mess w/ Gemma!!!

However...like I said...it's 1/2 of the most awesome Non-Star Trek TV shows in the history of Non-Star Trek TV shows!!!

"A sharp knife is nothing without a sharp eye" - Koloth

"Ya can't grill it until ya kill it" - Uncle Ted

"If it ain't Metal...IT'S CRAP!!!" - Dee Snider

Hey, I wanted to say thank you for the advice.  Walking Dead is great and an awesome choice for those looking for a work out TV show to watch on the elliptical.  It's a good story with a strong plot, but there's enough random zombie chases to keep your pace up on the machine.  Not good if you have young kids around obviously but as long as you have a door on your work out room, boom!  great show!

Don't worry though, I'm going through these so fast (extra workouts just to watch the show!) that I'm going to get to more of these suggestions.

I'm gonna have to toss "Who's line is it anyway", 2 episodes back to back, in here... just came back to television, but there's plenty of episodes from it's first run available.

So I wanted to say thanks again for the recommendation for "Walking Dead."  Might be the perfect show to watch on the elliptical.  Sadly, I blew through the 19 eps available on Netflix (just finished the last one today).  Wait, I don't mean "sadly"  I mean "AWESOMELY" as I think I made it through all 19 episodes in like, 22 days, that's a lot of working out.  :-D

I'm going to give "Sons of Anarchy" a try.  I REALLY want to watch Breaking Bad, but I don't know if there's enough action.  I heard it is more tension than action, which is ok but I'd prefer more zap bang.  Sons of Anarchy seems like lots of fist fights and other random action that will keep the blood pumping.

Friday Night Lights I watched a few episodes on the machine before summer hit and I moved the workouts outdoors.

Great music, strong subject matter for a show about highschool football, smashy action...

I really like it. I played football back in highschool (it's not a big deal in Canada, there were lots of "nerds" on the team) and while it was nothing like this show it seems relatable.

Currently lost in Fitness.

I just finished off the series :( You really start bonding with some of the characters on there. Tim Riggins is my boy!

I'm just going to throw this out there because I LOVE it, but the Netflix original Hemlock Grove. Only one season so far, but it's pretty damned awesome and has THE BEST werewolf transformation I have ever seen!

On that note, Being Human both SYFY and BBC versions. The BBC one is over now and the US one is farther along. Both awesome in their own rights. Totally worth watching both.

If you want a long series then go with supernatural. I think they are on somethingl ike 9 seasons now and always always have action in them. its about hunting demons for gods sake! whats not to love?

Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoons.

So awesome. Great story, characters, and humour.

Started watching this over the weekend since it is free with Amazon Prime.

It is now my go to cartoon to watch during breakfast before I go to work. Makes me think I am a kid again.

"Misfits" is great! Its a show out of the UK, 5 seasons now, I think, and its very loosely a combination of Breakfast Club meets Heroes... There are a bunch of kids in community service - they're all different (hence the Breakfast Club) but they're UK stereotypes, which are much funnier. Anyway a huge storm comes along and they get hit by lightening, and then get superpowers. They all get different super powers, but it takes them a bit of time to figure out what their power is. And, of course, they get into lots of trouble.

Its a one hour show, but there's only about 6 - 8 episodes per season, and I don't know if its on Netflix.

Misfits was (don't know if it is still is) on Netflix, I watched it a while back.  I'm a little torn on it, since I seem to be in a serious minority in thinking Nathan was an annoying **** (and not in a "I want to see his comeuppance, just a "get this **** off my TV" way) but the rest of the cast was compelling enough to keep me watching through this and tbh I liked the later series cast a lot better.

Now I know for sure this one isn't on Netflix since I had to pick up the DVDs, but since Sons of Anarchy is getting good press in this topic I'd still recommend the previous show by the same guys "The Shield", It's about an set of dirty detectives spiral in an LA police district (with subplots about the only honest detectives around, and the beat officers), it has a lot of the same dark humour that makes SOA so awesome (although if you've been watching SOA first, you'll probably never be able to look at Shane with a straight face after the actor's SOA appearance).

Spartacus. Lots of action. 40-50 minute long episodes so works into what you wanted. Extremely ripped and buff people everywhere. There's just a lot of 300 style blood and slow mo scenes which takes some getting used to. And lots and lots of soft core sex scenes. Overall my favourite series to get me pumped though.

They didn't get rid of him, Andy Whitfield died of Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Was sad. I can't watch it w/o him.
