TimG
I have managed to do a bike ride of +- 3 hours yesterday (with 1 stop in between;-). A bit agitated due to a deadlock on the scale I just climbed on my bike for a little ride, and ended up riding it for 3 hours or so in total. In the end it was very tough, I had no reserves left, saddle pain, aching legs, my speed dropped significantly ... but you just go on till you reach home. You haven't got a choice right? I just loved that feeling of accomplishment when I finally reached home, to be able to still do this after quite some time really :-) And this morning I got my reward too: a +- 2lbs drop in weight. TimG
btw,This morning I regained the weight unfortunately :/ If someone can explain this to me? I'm eager to find out. I also tried writing something about it: a bit of a boost not to give up :-) http://guldentopstim.blogspot.be/2013/08/a-bike-ride.html Quote Link to comment
kruser
Congrats on the ride! That's awesome! The drop in weight is likely due to a loss in water weight through sweat. It's best not to weigh yourself on a daily basis, you will see fluctuations like this. The better method is to weigh yourself once a week under the same conditions on the same scale. The best thing to do would be to do this on a body composition scale that give you more data than just your mass (i.e. body fat %, muscle %, etc). These devices aren't perfect, but if you use the same one, at least your data will be consistent. Don't get discouraged by the "gain", keep up the great work and you'll see a consistent net loss over the course of a week/month/etc! TimG
Thanks kruser, I guessed that much, but I didn't sweat that much I think. And that scale, yeah I have a body composition scale. I use that once a week to have a decent check. And every morning just a basic weight check as a reminder each day of why I'm doing this. But I'm not going to take those numbers too seriously any more. Thanks a lot for the advise! Quote Link to comment
