Hi all.  I've been thinking about getting back into working out for the last few months, but was never able to take that first step and start doing it.  It seems the confluence of finding nerdfitness.com and starting playing pick-up soccer has worked to get me moving, and committed to getting myself in better shape.

I'll post more details in my log posts, but my overall, slightly vague goals would be;

Shed the excess body fat.  I'm around 35-40 lbs heavier than I could be, and I'll concentrate on dropping weight before I worry about concentrating on packing on the muscle.

Increase strength.  I work a physical job, so I'm no weakling, but it would be nice to lift those 50lb cases and pallets with a bit more ease.

Increase endurance.  In part for soccer, but also for work and general life.  I don't like starting to feel winded after a day of work, or hauling the groceries home.

I like this site's approach to fitness, and I'm getting pumped to start changing my life.

Good luck, achamius! Soccer is a great game - and definitely worth getting fit for. Though lifting 50 lb cases and pallets isn't anything to sneeze at, either. I look forward to following your journey.
