NewAndImproved Posted January 4, 2014 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 Hi everyone, I started going to the gym this year. I did try the machines, but I'm looking to progress to the free weights. The gym I go to has a lot of dumbbells, barbells, etc....in fact, there's a floor dedicated to weights. I know I can start with 20 pounds and progress from there. Any tips on an effective free weight workout? I want to keep the reps consistent and gradually increase weight. Quote Link to comment

Some gyms offer free sessions with a trainer when you start, so that could set you on the right path.
