The fatty has some speed!!

One of my goals for this challenge is to decrease my mile time to 8 min, but more over, increase my running speed to 7.5 mph, a respectable running speed. 

 

I am well on my way.  Today I hit my all time low mile time with 8:32.00, Feel good and pumped to break the 8:00 mark!!!

That is great!  Good job on your progress.  I have the same goal for an 8 minute mile and can't wait to be almost 30 seconds out from that.

 It has been a long process, slowly whittling away at the time and building the pace up, one mile at a time.  When I started I could barley keep a 5.5 mph pace, This morning I ran a 7.2 mph pace. I am feeling pretty good about the goal!!!

In some circles, the threshold between Jogger and Runner is considered to be 7mph, so we can say that you qualify

 

How many miles are you doing at that pace, if I may ask?

Currently I am just doing a mile, but once I get to my target pace, I will begin to increase my distance.  I wanted to do this one step at a time :)

I am not allowed to run - but I increase distance, then speed then distance then speed....walking...whichever my knee allows me to do.

the increasing the distance will take endurance....you may lose speed when you increase the distance...don't be discouraged.

 

BTW - just because I am not allowed to run, does not mean that I don't have a runners heart!
