Shiny Pokèmon!  I have been playing since day one (for those who didnt see my first 3 challenges were all also themed for my love of the game)

 

It might be a gen 6 one, a scraggy at that...but damnit i finally saw and captured a shiny pokèmon!  (and no, the red gyrados in gen 4 doesnt count!)

So, I'm a pokemon dabbler (I tend to buy the new games that come out, but rarely finish them as I have little time to play). I know shiny pokemon are rare, but is there something else special about them?

Nope. The only thing that differentiates shiny pokemen is that they have a different color scheme from the regular ones and they have a sparkle animation when appearing in battle. The only reason people want them so badly is becasue they are incredibly rare.

Haha yep.  With the hours I have put into the games it took me a long time to run across one.  Only thing that is different is the color and the bling they put off

Actually shinny pokemon have been around since the start. Holographic cards for the tcg were merely to give extra value to rare cards. 

i have a few in my collection that are worth 50-70$ in collector value.
