Time to put the NERD in nerd fitness!

 

We're all gathered here for 2 reasons: 1. we're all interested in becoming fit(er) 2. we're nerds, so show it!

 

What fandom do you belong to? do you have any nerdy hobbies or interests? what are your favourite tv shows, geeky movies or video games? Do you have particular extensive knowledge of something?

 

Go ahead, tell us!

i'll start with mine.

 

-I'm a huge star wars fan,

• I see the franchise as a saga not trilogies or "this movie and this movie but not these movies"
• I prefer the Jedi over the Sith
• My favourite Lightsaber colour is Green; the Colour of the consular, those who would only use their lightsabers if left with no other choice but can be quite good at it (ex.Qui Gon Jinn).
• I love the Clone Wars (both filoni's and Tartakovsky's) and looking forward to Rebels.
• I'm currently reading the comic "Darth Maul: son of Dathomir", i can't wait for part 2 to come out

-I prefer my superheroes on screen rather then comic format.

-My video games tastes are fairly kiddish, I prefer a fun action/platformer like Mario over a shooter and overly violent/dark games. I would also rather play with myself then with a bunch of potty-mouth kids on Xbox live.

-I did watch a bit of anime growing-up but i prefer Tokusatsu shows (Jap. "special effect/action show", the power rangers are the most well known Tokusatsu show).

• The power Rangers were my introduction to that genre, my love for it goes beyond Mighty Morphin', though i've only seen up to Mystic force and a few episodes of Samurai.
• Aside from Mighty morphin" Lightspeed rescue is my favourite season.
• Blue Mighty Morphin,Titanium ranger (American exclusive!), Samurai ranger,Shadow Ranger are my favourite rangers.
• I haven't seen much of the Sentai, but have watched a few commentaries/comparisons, and ultimately i feel it's a matter of preference. 
• Kamen Rider is my current obsession. I'm currently watching V3

-Pokemon is another favourite fandom of mine. Though admittedly the card game has always been my favourite part as i am very sluggish with the games.

• I own 2500+ cards
• I have a handful of cards worth 50$+  (my full art hollo Raikou EX comes to mind)

-I Study history in college. I'm aiming to become a historian specializing in either ancient civilizations or Global history.My favourite time periods are Ancient Greece and medieval/renaissance Europe.

-i'm a Lego hobyist, though i'm more interested in Star Wars miniatures currently.

I'm actually planning a cosplay of Avatar Korra, not only in the clothes, but also physical appreance, which means lots of heavy weight lifting. I am also a fan of pokemon, but for the games only, not so much the tv series. I want to get a 3DS, but adult expenses ;_;

 

As for hobbies, I have quite a few of them:

I did Enjoy the Avatar franchise,well except the live action movie (though not too many people did).I remember the Cartoon Hero when he reviewed this movie and asked "How much did Shaymalan hate avatar?" I haven't seen legend of Korra yet though, i've been told a few spoilers about it but i still plan on watching it when i get around.

 

Good luck on your cosplay! That's good enough motivation to become buff.

 

Have you considered getting a 2DS instead? I know how you feel though,i only got my 3DS because i won a raffle at work.

I'm a Whovian through and through.

I am an occult history buff. Not a major or anything, but I love it. My favorite being vampire history and I miss the darkness that was once found in vampire liturature. They are so fluffy now a days.

 

I am also a Table Top Role Player and play more games than I should. I have two seperate WOD vampire games(well one is just vampires the other is a vampire, two werewolves, and a sineater), starting a WOD hunter game soon, Dragon Age RPG, and Numera. I love all of my characters and have found that they all have an amplified peice of me. I also never get to play them and it breaks my heart.

 

I am also a Whovian! My favorite Doctor being Ten, but closely followed by Nine. I also watch Teen Wolf, Supernatural, Game of Thrones (I bandwagoned it and regret nothing. Started listen to the audio books too), Hemlock Grove, and Penny Dreadful. If you think I am not stoked about the new Hellraizer show too, by the by, you are wrong!

 

As for comics I love the Sandman series by Nail Gaiman.

 

Finally video games! I am a hack'n'slasher and a parkour player. Assassin's Creed is my jam, but I lack time to play games anymore.

Nerdiness:

I'm in love with Master Chief ( love HALO ).

I read everything and absolutely adore George RR Martin ( love the books more than the series but enjoy the series no end ), huge Tolkien fan of all his works and think that Peter Jackson did a fantastic job bringing LOTR to the screen. Can not wait until they get some of David Gemmell's books to screen especially Waylander and Druss, dark heroes are always cool and buff and good looking. Well maybe not Druss.

I love learning and have been homeschooling for over 10 years and each day I learn something new, I adore Earth Sciences and History especially the history surrounding myths, Scottish folklore, Germanic folklore, Picts etc. I have learnt more in my years of homeschooling my Lads than I learnt in school. You really don't stop learning. We all love doco's on everything and anything.

I also adore movies, old, new and everything in between. I will watch anything ( well not porn I find it pointless ), I appreciate the cult classic Nosferatu, Metropolis, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, but enjoy new mass produced popcorn movies, Transformers, X-Men as well as culturally diverse Let the Right One In (Swedish), Fearless, Ju-On ( the Grudge original ).

Then there is the music. Appreciate all music, although some of the newer stuff is kinda hard to listen to. Beyoncé, lil Kim, Katy Perry they all sound the same to me........so shoot me, they sound like cats in boiling water. I love that Western Australia has sent some of the best bands in recent history abroad and they are doing very well. Birds of Tokyo, Little Birdy, Martha's Vinyard, JBT ( John Butler Trio ), The Sleepy Jackson. The other half and his mining buddies have just started a band here in town ( so I have a thing for hairy drummers! ). I also live that we have an International Blues Festival here every year which showcases some of the best up and coming blues bands as well as some of the old favourites! The best weekend of the year!

Probably not very nerdy but it is what it is.

Fandom - if I had to pick something, I'd say Big Bang Theory and Who's Line is it anyway. LOVE both shows, though I probably don't get into the details as much as ya'll get into yours, also I probably know more than I should about fireworks.

I used to be in the Star Wars fandom. Well, okay, I probably still am but I seldom browse message boards or anything about it anymore. My favorite while growing up was Luke, and then Darth Maul and...there's a new Darth Maul comic? FFFFFFUUUUUUUCK! NEED! NOW!

 

I might have a Maul cosplay hidden somewhere ;P I just haven't worn it in ages because, well, I grew my hair back.

 

I've also stumbled into the Marvel rabbit hole on that fateful day where my friend was like "Hey, want to come see Avengers with us?" I've acquired some of the comics since then--mainly Thor stuff, and IronMan will most likely be next. And Loki: Agent of Asgard, and the Journey into Mystery arc with kid Loki and...comics are expensive >_< And Marvel Heroes is a freaking time sink that just makes me want to buy more things great game!

I have a fair bit of Batman merchandise, mostly t-shirts and other apparel, as well as a few figurines, mostly of collector's edition stuff from the Batman: Arkham video games. I also do a lot of random Batman sketches. 

 

I also have a fair amount of Mass Effect merchandise too. I have posters, vinyl figurines, a small Shepard figurine, a small Normandy statue, as well as an N7 t-shirt, N7 hoody and even N7 snow goggles for when I visit Japan at the end of this year.

My nerdness started early with the Real Ghostbusters Cartoon, He-Man, Transformers, Spiderman and Friends, Lost in Time, Buck Rogers, the Incredible Hulk, and Wonder Woman. I also used to stay up late and watch Star Trek reruns. I also remember how excited I was when the Star Wars tv movie came out.

Then I moved onto the Forgetten Realm books, including all the early books with Drizzt and the Pools of Radiance; Any book with a girl in a furry bikini was good reading back then.

 

In the 90's the Wheel of Time series came out and ten years later I almost had a nervous breakdown when the author died.

 

Dresden Files is my favorite current series and I live in fear that Jim Butcher will die.

 

As far as video games, where would we be without rastan, golden axe, gauntlet, castlevania, and legend of zelda.

 

Tom Baker is of course my favorite doctor. I also have a crush on Amy Pond. Not the actress that plays Amy Pond, but Amy Pond.

Mass Effect is an awesome series and I highly recommend it. It's a shame it's not available for Mac, hopefully soon!

If you can't tell from my name I'm in the green lantern fandom. I have a lot if the comics and a bunch of shirts and other toys and clothing, along with the movies(not the live action one because it was awful). I'm also a whovian ten being my favorite followed by baker and nine. Not big on Matt smith though. I love any book that is based in lore or science fiction. My favorite series growing up we're Harry potter, and the xanth series by piers Anthony. I love all music except new rap and new country. For games I like everything but sports games. I play a lot of halo and assasin creed. I love everything zombie related and even have a zombie survival blog. I also play bass guitar, and piano. In my free time I write songs, poems, and I am working on two stories. I met my fiancé at a game I use to play called zomb which is humans vs zombies with nerf guns. I also go to comic cons and cosplay. I'm working on a Wild West version of dark wing duck. Let's get dangerous.
