Mama T
The Head and the Heart are from Seattle and have been my most frequent obsession for the last few months; i bought tix to their show i think at the beginning of August, so waiting so long to see them has been slowly killing me. and Peelander-Z is supposed to be insanity - a friend of mine basically is making me to go to the show, and i'm pretty excited about it. anything that combines ridiculousness and music is a win in my book. Jabba the Hupp
Lately at the gym I've been rocking a lot of Girl Talk, Polar Bear Club and Doomtree's latest Wugazi (mashup of Wu Tang Clan and Fugazi available for free here: http://wugazi.com/ . It's seriously amazing)Lately at work or in the car it's been Lucero, Hot Water Music, Ryan Adams and always the Replacements Quote
[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Jabba the Hupp, level 4 Dwarf Warrior STR 21|DEX 9|STA 12|CON 9.5|WIS 5|CHA 1
My Bucket List Link to comment
CapN_Tommy_Sunshine
And this has made me realise that I haven't listened to much psychobilly for a while. I think I need to change that. I am so jealous that you'll be seeing Nekromantix next week....though I have seen Zombie Ghost Train at least five or so times, which does make up for it a little. Awesome! I found out about Zombie Ghost Train a couple of months after they announced their breakup. I think they only made it to the US once, and I think only California. Any other good psychobilly recommendations? I am always on the lookout for new music. Quote Link to comment
Starbuck
I've been pretty out of the loop with music for a while now, so I'm probably not a great person to ask for recommendation. As far as Australian bands go, The Casino Rumblers stand out to me. I also really like this Korean band called The RockTigers. I'll come back if I can think of anything else. Quote Current Challenge! Starbuck
Actually a friend just linked me to this video clip. Not really psychobilly, but something you might like. I don't know anything about the band, other than that they are from Brisbane, but I do love this song and video clip. Quote Current Challenge! Hannibal
Hannibal, could you recommend some Central Asian music? Id be interested in hearing some. I can't really say one particular artist or anything. I have a few compilation albums that I enjoyed:Music of Kazakhstan, Vol.1Music of Central Asia, TajikistanMusic of Central Asia, Uzbekistan; Dombra Music of KazakhstanMongolian SongsThe Silk Road: A Musical CaravanAnd on a somewhat similar note, there's a 15 CD set called the Music of Islam that I highly recommend. Obviously it's not the same, but it's really good, traditional music. Quote Hannibal's Workout Log | Hannibal's Blog Link to comment

Alethea
Hannibal, those albums sound facinating. Now I'll have to look them up. Just went running yesterday to the sounds of "Mambo #5" and "Shout" among others. Awesome. Quote "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' You yourself must say. Knightwatch
Yes I will definitely be buying that album when it's out. After discovering Whiskeytown I've been hooked on Mr. Adams. Very good stuff. New album is gonna be so ridiculously good, a la Heartbreaker/Demolition. Outside Cold Roses, I wasn't a huge fan of his Cardnials stuff. I mean, is was wicked good, but just didn't speak to me the way his Whiskeytown and early solo stuff does. Garth
Today so far I have mostly been listening to Mogwai and Peeping Tom. I'd not listend to Peeping Tom before today, they were suggested to me by a friend after I was raving about how much I loved Mike Patton in Faith No More. I'd been meaning to check out some of Patton's non FNM stuff, and this pushed me in the right direction. Safe to say, I will be listening to some combination of Fantomas, Mr Bungle or Tomahawk next.
