I am new to the site with virtually 0 lurk time to my credit.  I'm 45 and I weigh 248.

I am doing my best to stay away from processed foods.  I no longer drink as much sweet tea as I used to but it is still a weakness for me.  I am a soda addict.  I actually gave it up for an entire year once and then, at a 4th of July party, I had a Sunkist Orange and fell off the wagon.  I now find myself trying to get back on it.

I am using an online food logger to record what I eat although I am not going crazy trying to meet the nutrition goals the program has set for me.  I might be doing that wrong, but I am trying to wrap my head around a lot of stuff right now.

I have been running at least 1.7 miles on my treadmill every other day for the past week and a half.  I had problems with shin splints in boot camp and it made me scared of running.  I have had no issues of late.  The days I do not run I ride a stationary bike.  Every once in a while I throw in the P90X plyo DVD and do as much as I can.  I decided I need to do some strength training after seeing the article about Staci, and so, today I start the 5x5 program at stronglifts.

This seems like a really good community and I hope to stick around for a good while.

My goals are to drop to a healthy weight, gain strength, and run a 5K with my daughter this Fall.  Mainly the last!  :)

Welcome! I've run through stronglifts successfully, and  can help you out there if you have any questions. As far as tracking your calories, getting into the habit of tracking is a good one in and of itself. Actually trying to meet goals can come in a bit once you have some data to look at and figure out where you can improve.
