Elliott907
I'm Ellet, and I'm a food addict. I just came out of my first Overeaters Anonymous group meeting. I've known for a few years now that my love of food has become, or simply always has been, an obsession, and very unhealthy. A couple years ago I came to the conclusion that my relationship with food has not been nourishing to either my soul or body, and has been an addiction for a long time. Today, I took the first step toward addressing that. I attended my first OA meeting, and though I don't know if it will work, I'm giving it a fair shake. I've been grasping at straws, and sometimes not even that, for a while now, and I realized that even something is better than nothing. I sat through a meeting, cried a little (inside and out), and introduced myself. I've committed to attending another meeting on Saturday. It's not much, but it's a start. Woot for the little things. 3 Quote Elliott - Alaskan Half-Orc, working toward benevolent polymorph spell | Aspiring Warrior - Ranger Level 1 Newb: STR 1 - DEX 1 - STA 1 - CON 1 - WIS 1 - CHA 1 Serenity and change, one day at a time. Ciara
That's really good to hear. Props to you for acknowledging your problem and taking steps to solve it. That's brave. You should be very proud of yourself Quote Level 2 Human Assassin STR 4| DEX 0| STA 5| CON 4| WIS 4| CHA 1My battlelogChallenge: 1, 2, 3, 4, Current Link to comment
Elliott907
Ciara, I really like your missions and how they relate to your main quest! Thank you for your kind words. It's hard going, but I'm trying, and sometimes that's just the best you can do. IronGlider
Congrats! The first step is always the hardest, when you've got the mindset and are committed. I hope things have been going well for you since! :-)Personally, I found my overeating problem and obsession with food to be linked to my behaviour in the moment (like it is for many). The only way I could control it was to allow myself one lenient day a week where I can eat the type of things I use to crave at any amount (usually big) as long as I can make them myself, doesn't include junk which conflicts with my asthma (like soda) and as-close-to healthy alternative. Cravings of junk I could only get rid of after 2-3 months of abstinence, to which I'll sample a bit, document how I feel and (so far) realise how it takes me outside of feeling neutral and tastes gross, and wouldn't want again.Sunday is my off-day, any cravings I had earlier on the week I'd tell myself "it's okay, just wait till sunday" and when that day comes, I'd be sure to try it or an equivalent. I'd also weigh myself this day earlier on to reward my efforts of the week. Hope for the best for you! Apologies if I've rambled, but yeah just over 10 months ago I struggled with the same thing, and I've come to say that it is possible to conquer! I'd say experiment with several things and see how they work for ya! :-) 2 Quote Introduction, Bodyware: Fitness JournalChallenge Belt: (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), [WOOT], (8), [TEMP HIATUS], (9) Bodyweight Info: Starting: 264.5lbs, Current: 167.8lbs (NEUTRAL) IronGlider v2.10, Adventurer Rank: Level 8 Link to comment

Ellet, going to your meeting and committing yourself to going again is a BIG w00t! 2 Quote "We are what we repeatedly do. Elliott907
Thank you, IronGlider and PianoLady! I appreciate the words. Tomorrow's my next meeting, and I look forward to them all week! I think I'm doing better - I'm more conscious of what I'm doing now that I've been told to actively think about my feelings and behaviors. It's good! 3 Quote Elliott - Alaskan Half-Orc, working toward benevolent polymorph spell | Aspiring Warrior - Ranger Level 1 Newb: STR 1 - DEX 1 - STA 1 - CON 1 - WIS 1 - CHA 1 Serenity and change, one day at a time. Disil
Wow, I didn't know such groups existed, that's just awesome! And you did way more than "not much", attending this meeting. Adressing an issue in such a way is a milestone in a way and since you're planning to go to the next one too, you're already creating positive momentum for yourself, so don't be too modest here! 3 Quote How about a glass of purgatory with a splash of heaven?
