Ran a Half-marathon distance!

Recommended Posts

For the first time every without stopping (I've done this before, but had to walk a bit), I ran 13.1 miles today! Even better, I did it in 1:51! Not the most amazing time I'll admit, but I haven't run more than 6 miles in MONTHS.

Not to mention, this was the most beautiful run ever. It started off on the heels of a storm over Chicago with a rainbow over Lake Michigan. From there, I took my usual path along the Lakeshore Trail, and took the uneven rocks that make up the seawall as my path as usual. The waves were over 6-8' today, and made amazing 10-15' sprays the entire way. I ran some on the beach dodging waves, and couldn't stop mad cackling when I came around a bend with a high seawall next to me and a wave crested over it, soaking me to the thigh. Rebellion against the status quo, you bet!

The only answer to "You can't do that" is "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED."

a) congrats, that's so awesome! B) SO jealous you got to do the lake shore run. Used to live in chicago, and I swear, it's the best city to be a runner in. c) glad you didn't get knocked down by waves! Saw some video of ppl getting taken out on their bikes earlier today, and it didn't look like fun.

but mostly, kudos to you for the woot-worthy run!
