Dandizette
Yay! Congrats! Punch that air! Punch it like money is involved! SO MUCH MONEY INVOLVED! But I am so excited! Thank you! WOOT! Congratulations! I remember freaking the hell out for months before I took the GRE. Grad school is awesome! You're awesome! Is it? I am really looking forward to it. Going back for a degree in archival and library sciences. I already have a ton of work experience, but I need my masters now to go on to bigger and better things. My next challenge will involve saving up the money for and applying to my schools of choice. 2 Quote High Elf | Scout | Level 3[ STR 3.5 | DEX 3 | STA 7 | CON 3 | WIS 7 | CHA 4 ]Second Challenge | Battle Log"I do not intend to make excuses." 100 Plus Miles! 101%101% Link to comment
TMedina
Ha! Awesomeness. I was a student at the SLIM program, but it didn't pan out for me. Grad school flew by for me. Got my Master's in Public Relations and Advertising from DePaul.I wish I'd chosen another school; I played it safe but I loved it anyway. Don't be afraid to go somewhere new. That's my one regret. Quote "Stay strong until you win against yourself. Don't be afraid to go somewhere new. That's my one regret. I plan to relocate to another state. No university in my state offers the degree I seek, so I have to move. I'm terrified of it, honestly. I come from a town of <7000, moved to a town of 250,000, and all the universities I'm looking at are in >850,000, so I'm really intimidated. But I think I can manage! 1 Quote High Elf | Scout | Level 3[ STR 3.5 | DEX 3 | STA 7 | CON 3 | WIS 7 | CHA 4 ]Second Challenge | Battle Log"I do not intend to make excuses." 100 Plus Miles! 101%101% Link to comment
Librarylass
Dandizette, Woot! A potential librarian-in-training! Welcome to the dark side! As you can probably guess, I'm a librarian. So is my husband. Several accredited library schools offer online programs, so you may not HAVE to move. The University of Alabama (where my husband got his MLIS) has a synchronous (ie actual real time class meetings with instructor & classmates) online program AND they don't charge out-of-state tuition. Other schools' online programs are asynchronous (more like a correspondance course). It kinda depends on what type of environment suits you. For myself, I know I lack the discipline for an asynchronous program. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about library school or the profession. 1 Quote "You want weapons? I've been working as a page, a part time circulation specialist, and a part time assistant librarian at both university and public libraries for the last 7 years. And my father served on the ICfL (Idaho Commission for Libraries!) For me, I learn better in person. I have no discipline for any kind of online distance learning (sychronous or asynchronous!) I tried to get my paralibrarian certificate once and that didn't work out at all. I learn much better in person. And as terrified as I am of leaving Idaho, I think it would be good for me to learn about other parts of the US. My top choice right now is University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I have many connections down south and looking at the school right now, it seems like a very good fit (but don't hate me--I know there's rivalry. XD) However, picking your brain about school would make me extra happy! Thank you so much.
