Ladies and gentlemen, introducing...

Recommended Posts

Me! Haha, hey there, I'm Zak from Eugene, OR! I've been reading Nerd Fitness for the last year (rough estimate), and finally decided to take the leap onto these hallowed forums! This site, along with marksdailyapple, has been a huge inspiration for me. To be honest, it wasn't until I had found them that I really gave a crap about my personal health. I was short, fat, and between my focus on programming for school and over-indulgence in World of Warcraft (Horde on Elune-US), I probably spent between 12 and 18 hours in front of the computer I built (funny story, the one I had prior literally burst into flames).

I started a body weight exercise routine, switched to a mostly paleo diet, and here I am, almost a year later! Not to toot my own horn, but I look a lot better! Haha, I'm around 55lbs. lighter, way stronger, dropped 4 pants sizes (36 -> 32) and have trouble with staying seated for more than a couple hours at a stretch! Due to these changes, I've changed my focus in school from programming to...well, something else. I haven't decided yet, but it's not super important because I know I'll succeed no matter what I choose to do. Confidence has soared, and I'm ready to take on the world!

I used to feel like the best feeling in the world was getting an awesome drop in-game; now, I feel like breaking any prior best lift reps/run times or doing a new, more difficult version of an exercise is 1000 times better! This is only my first post, but I already feel like this is the start of something great. Can't wait to get know the rest of the community better!

Hey Zak, welcome to the "active posting" part of the thread. :) You know it is a good day when you have a computer to catch on fire! Good job on make some serious changes in your life and I know your story will be an inspiration for other people on the boards. I hope to hear more from you in the near future.
