Denis
I ran my first 5k race this weekend and finished ith a time of 26:52 (34 out of 190 overall). This was a very good experience for me. I don't seem to have an easy time seeing myself as athletic, but I think this helped me see things a little differently. I started the race hanging around the back of the crowd but ended up weaving my way forward through a fair bit of the crowd. Then, as I was getting to the 2.5 k turnaround point I realized that I hadn't been passed by that many people. Then, as I turned around and started into the last half of the race, I noticed that I was going by people I would, by appearance anyway, consider more fit than me. Anyway, it was a fun experience and I am looking forward to doing it again . 1 Quote Level 4 Dwarf RangerSTR 6 | DEX 3 | STA 6 | CON 5 | WIS 10 | CHA 1 Challenges: 3, 2, 1 Link to comment
Millie Hurtz
Woot indeed!Well done, that sounds like you had a great experience and achieved a great time. You ran exactly 10 mins faster than I did for my first 5k haha! Salivanth
Wow, I find it interesting that a time like that placed so highly. Clearly, my standards for what makes an above-average runner are way too high! Quote Link to comment
Denis
Maybe part of that is that this is a small race series put on by the local outdoors chain store (MEC) and not one of the larger events in the city. I think these races are more geared towards simply getting people out there (low cost, no race shirts or other items) than some of the other events are. Denis
Thanks turbo! Actually, I will be running a couple obstacle races that take place later this summer. I'm doing the Rugged Maniac myself & have signed up with a group from work to do a Spartan Sprint.
