Shortkaik
So, I'm sitting here trying to come up with ideas for Christmas gifts (both giving and receiving!), and I'm having absolutely no luck. And then, I think, you Nerds have some pretty interesting tastes! You're assertive! Certainly you know what YOU want for Christmas! So I ask you to share your Christmas list... so that I may steal ideas. Please? Quote Mmm... kaik.Twitter - flickr Link to comment
aj_rock
I second this motion. My girlfriend is also fairly nerdy and I have NO idea what to get her :/ Meanwhile, I'm asking for a microSD card 32gig and Skyward Sword :3 Quote Why must I put a name on the foods I choose to eat and how I choose to eat them? Rather than tell people that I eat according to someone else's arbitrary rules, I'd rather just tell them, I eat healthy. And no, my diet does not have a name.My daily battle log! Link to comment

scarletleavy
For me I've got my eye on: Le Creuset Dutch Oven Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer Workout Gear (Leggings, Sports Bras, etc) Vibrams So yeah, basically anything to do with fitness or cooking. I only have to buy gifts for my immediate family, no boyfriend this year so thankfully no pressure there to pick out anything awesome. My family is totally not exciting with gifts, we either just give each other a list of what we want or money to buy what we want. Ergo I am the worst gift giver ever. jdanger
Smart phone glove pins I'm in the same boat as AJ regarding what to get Danger Dater and this is so full of win I don't know what to do with myself. The only other idea I've come up with are some cool popup books I found out about courtesy Amazon's spammers. She's a Harry Potter fan so I'm thinking something like this would probably be neat. See also: some related potential awesome. Also considering a beardhead as a semijoke since she seems to envy my winter beard.I'll be watching this thread intently in the hopes of stealing better ideas. Gainsdalf the Whey
The glove pins are a great gift for her, she won't have to take her gloves off to use her phone, but I want something other than utilitarian stuff as well. I was considering a beardhead for my white elephant gift with my friends, but its over the $10 minimum. Oogiem
We got most of our Christmas presents already as we tend to buy stuff all through the year. I got an iPhone 4S, a Silhouette Cameo die cut machine and all sorts of parts to refurbish my spinning wheel. Hubby got a new HD monitor and some other misc computer boards and stuff. I'm seriously considering the firefly key ring or the Han Solo Carbonite chocolate bar from thinkgeek for hubby as well. We'll probably give the neighbors racks of mutton or leg roasts. Only relatives I have are brother in law and 4 nieces and their families. I'm giving the ones that do scrapbooks a lot of scrapbook tools and we'll also give either Amazon or Penzey's gift certificates to them as well. Chickens will get chicken bread or other special treats, cats will get canned food, dogs will get extra chew bones, horses will all get apples and the sheep are getting a year off with no coats on. Oh and 59 lucky ladies and 5 lucky boys will get to produce next year's lamb crop. ;-) Quote Oogie McGuire Black Sheep Shepherdess STR 4.25 | DEX 4.5 | STA 3.75 | CON 3 | WIS 4.75 | CHA 1 Link to comment

Shortkaik
NerdFitness is my porn.Ahahaha! Amen to that!So yeah, basically anything to do with fitness or cooking.I'm mostly in the same boat. I don't like getting gift cards, but I would accept one for Lululemon or something, since I seriously need new workout clothes and am too cheap to shop there on my own dime. Kitchen stuff is usually a safe bet for me too, although I'm mostly all set on kitchen gadgets. I could do with a juicer and a vacuum sealer for long term meat storage (the vacuum sealer, not the juicer...)I'm a pretty picky gift giver (and receiver, I suppose!) - always want to give something I think they want but would never buy for themselves. And not something they "need" (like socks or a new coat rack or something). Not a fan of gift cars, generally. And I don't like having to ask or being asked. Sucks for him! Haha.I am thinking about possibly getting a home brew set up as his gift - I think it might be fun to play around with. Does anyone have experience doing home brewing? Is it boring and more like cooking than like science? I have a few other little ideas in mind... Just picked up this nerdy cross stitch pattern, which I'm going to make. ZenGwen
Mostly I'd like clothing or fitness stuff this year, as I'm now too small for most of my old stuff. I know my mom will be getting me a new coat. Boyfriend has already gotten me something, not sure what. Not really expecting anything from anyone else. But yeah, if I were to get everything on my christmas list... some new shirts (black with french cuffs please!), a nice black waistcoat, workout clothes, a couple colors of hair dye (purple, red and pink would be great), a kindle, and paid entrance to all the Rat Race events being run in Scotland next year. A nice black leather satchel with room to carry my gym stuff. And maybe a couple books on paleo. Oh and a sports watch! Heh.I'll be getting my boyfriend some fencing kit, I think. He's gotten quite into it. It would be great to get him a gambeson or fencing jacket, but I need to shop around a bit. His parents are living in Uganda at the moment, I'll be sticking some knitted cotton washcloths and nice soap in his parcel for them. Boyfriend's aunt is coming to ours for Christmas, will knit something small for her too. My own mom is getting hand-knitted socks, two pairs if I can find the time. I'm sending my grandparents back in the states a patchwork blanket I knitted. All the neighbours (and the guy whose flat my mom is renting when she visits us over Christmas) are getting small boxes of gingerbread and truffles.True story: for a temp job many years ago, I answered santa's email. That's right, I was an elf. The pay was crap, but it was lots of fun replying directly to children and having them (excitedly!) write back. That's awesome! I want that job. GeekCom
The Christmas list has become a tradition for us. I make a list for her and she makes a list for me. We both tend to put some crazy stuff on them knowing full well we can't get it but it's still fun. as for me the highlights include A Consolized Neo Geo MVS Panasonic Pro AG-DVX100A 3-CCD MiniDV Proline Camcorder a replica of The Ocarina of time Lord of the rings extended edition blur ray star wars complete blu ray Masterpiece Optimus Prime Earthbound Rival Schools As for her I've already gotten and given her a 1 year membership to our local crossfit gym, the Reebok crossfit shoes, new athletic cloths, Some new dresses. I have one more thing in mind for her but I can't say here because I'm pretty sure she is lurking on the forum since she is the one who linked me here (although I am pretty sure she does not have a forum account). Needless to say she will be happy/surprised. Quote Link to comment
bigm141414
Anything from ThinkGeek.com. They have best gifts. I always tell everyone just get me Books. Then they ask well what kind of books? I say the kind with words in them. They say well can you be more specific. I say English words. They say bah and get me clothes or gift cards instead. I heart me some books. Doesn't matter what kind. I'll read it. I even give them my Amazon wish list (books ranging from The Walking Dead to Fluid Dynamics and much in between). This year though I would like a nice bottle of Scotch and a Cuban cigar. Quote "Pull the bar like you're ripping the head off a god-damned lion" - Donny Shankle Link to comment
